Hawaii Health Care Decisions Week: April 13-19 - HGEA supports Kokua Mau
[Back to List]
Make your wishes known -- Joining numerous community
organizations statewide, HGEA's State Community Action
Committee is supporting Hawaiis Health Care Decisions Week on
April 13-19 (in conjunction with National Healthcare Decisions
Day on April 16).
Starting from that third week in April and continuing
throughout the year, HGEA will work together with KOKUA MAU to
provide members with free information about advance care
planning and advance directive forms, in the hopes that fewer
families and healthcare providers will have to struggle with
making difficult healthcare decisions in the absence of
guidance from the patient.
To see why an advance directive is the best gift you could ever
leave your family, please visit

"Watch an Online Video Clip" link.
A life-limiting illness or other end-of-life circumstance is
one of the most difficult situations faced by families today.
Death is a topic that nobody likes to talk about, but avoiding
the issue never makes it go away.
All we're asking you to do is complete your own advance
directive form (AD) and have your loved ones complete theirs -
see attached. It's such a simple task, yet it will make a world
of difference for individuals and families throughout
Hawaii.
For more information on how you can help promote advanced care
planning and advance directives, please contact Gerald Ako at
gako@hgea.org.
