Special Session on SB 2077 To Reconvene Wednesday

Monday's legislative special session regarding Senate Bill 2077 recessed with no action taken by lawmakers and will reconvene Wednesday. We understand that various drafts are being considered by the House and Senate.
 
HGEA is pressing for a veto override to secure early retirement benefits for career civil service employees who would otherwise not achieve retirement milestones due to the state's privatization, and for a severance benefit to other employees who will be adversely affected by the privatization.
 
We are prepared to file state and federal lawsuits within the next 48 hours.
