Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct general direction of the Legislative Officer, this position provides administrative support to HGEA/AFSCME’s legislative and political action services to include responding to phone and email inquiries, maintaining records and files, attending legislative hearings, monitoring relevant legislative bills, creating reports, and coordinating and participating in events.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED with more than six (6) months of administrative experience; knowledge of legislative process and/or campaign experience preferred.
Organized team player with effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; fast learner with ability to prioritize assignments to meet deadlines and provide excellent customer service; work outside of normal work hours and on the weekends, as needed; possess a valid Hawaii driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle to travel to and from various locations. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office programs.
